CLONDE enforces data gravity by routing compute jobs to the physical region and provider where your data already lives. When you submit a job, the OrchestrationService looks up which backend holds the target dataset and dispatches the container or Lambda function there—eliminating cross-cloud egress fees entirely. For replication, CLONDE streams from its own API memory or temp disk concurrently to all replicas, so your data is never pulled cloud-to-cloud after initial placement.

The predictor evaluates eight factors simultaneously: file size, extension, access recency, time-of-day patterns, real-time pricing from all connected providers, network congestion metrics, user latency requirements, and compliance tags. The model is trained continuously on your own usage data, so predictions get sharper over time. For in-place archiving, CLONDE uses native provider APIs (e.g., GLACIER on AWS) to drop costs by ~90% without moving bytes across networks.

Cloud credentials are AES-encrypted at rest using your ENCRYPTION_KEY environment variable before being stored. The key is never logged or included in API responses. All inter-service communication runs inside a private Docker network, and the database port is bound to localhost only. For compliance, the policy engine blocks non-compliant storage placements before execution—GDPR, HIPAA, and PCI-DSS rules are enforced at the routing layer, not after the fact.
